Music lovers have much to look forward to at Squamish Constellation Festival 2022, BC’s largest zero-waste fest happening from July 22 to 24 at Hendrickson Field.

The one and only Sarah McLachlan headlines the three-day extravaganza on July 24.

“This summer marks a welcome return for live music in British Columbia. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of Squamish Constellation Festival,” McLachlan says. “We all benefit from live music and collectively need it now more than ever. The essence of Constellation, which brings people together in community to celebrate not only the arts, but one another, is something I deeply connect with and am proud to be a part of.”

With more than 30 years in the recording industry, McLachlan is a multi-platinum singer and songwriter best known for her intimate vocals and relatable lyrics.

Born in Halifax and based in Vancouver, McLachlan is a multiple Grammy- and Juno-award winning artist who has sold more than 40 million albums throughout her career and was recently inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

In addition to her personal artistic efforts, in 1997 McLachlan founded the Lilith Fair tour, which showcased female musicians and brought more than two million people together over its three-year run. Lilith Fair raised over $7 million for local and national charities and helped launch the careers of numerous female performers. The festival was the most successful all-female music event and was the top-grossing touring festival during its run.

McLachlan’s history supporting female musicians aligns with the values of Squamish Constellation Festival, which is committed to gender parity in all its forms on stage and behind the scenes. Inclusivity and diversity are core values of the festival.

Here are the female artists and female-fronted bands playing at the 2022 fest: July Talk, Lights, Ashleigh Ball (singer from Hey Ocean!), Blonde Diamond, Dear Rouge, Haley Blais, Hyaenas, iskwē, Jessia, Miesha and the Spanks, Ocie Elliott, Old Soul Rebel, Pharis & Jason Romero, PIQSIQ, Skye Wallace, Terra Lightfoot, and Whitehorse.

In 2002, McLachlan founded her non-profit organization, the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. The School of Music serves over 1,000 at-risk and underserved youth in Vancouver, Surrey, and Edmonton at no cost each year.
