Shadbolt Centre for the Arts presents American journalist Joan Didion’s play The Year of Magical Thinking, based on her best-selling memoir of the same name, with Wild Philley Productions on April 18 and 19 at 7:30 pm.

Directed by Melanie Yeats, The Year of Magical Thinking is a moving, one-woman tour-de-force about the resiliency of the human heart. Beginning on December 30, 2003, the play allows Didion’s journey to unfold as she grapples with the sudden death of her husband of 40 years and the illness of her only daughter. Navigating the uncharted waters of unfathomable grief with her signature intelligence, Didion conjures a surprisingly witty, unsparingly honest exploration of loss, perseverance, and love.

The play stars Cory Philley, the founding artistic director of Wild Philley Productions, in the role of Didion.

Tickets to the show, which features general cabaret-style seating, are available through the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
