Studio 58 at Langara College is serving up The Kitchen, which runs from March 30 to April 9 with showtimes at 3 pm and 8 pm.

Back in their freshly-renovated space for the final show of the season, the renowned professional theatre training program will immerse audiences in the high-pressure and precisely choreographed world of a fine dining restaurant’s kitchen.

A classical piece of theatrical innovation born out of the socialist movement of post-World War II, The Kitchen sees chefs and servers navigate a rigorous day of preparing food for their demanding patrons. The show—written by Arnold Wesker and directed by Amiel Gladstone—is a fast-paced tour de force that looks at breaking personal barriers and challenging the status quo.

Set and lighting design for the kitchen-centric production is by Sophie Tang, and costume design is by Melissa McCowell. Choreography for the piece is put together by Amanda Testini.

Tickets, $10 and up, are available online at Studio 58.
