Studio 58, the professional theatre training program at snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College, kicks off its 58th season with the reimagined classic The Tempest from October 5 to 22. Showtimes are at 3 pm and 7:30 pm, with a special relaxed performance on October 21 at 3 pm.

Under Diana Donnelly’s direction, this version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest is set on an island made of garbage, and explores the intersection of climate change and hope.

A magical and ethereal tale, it tells the story of Prospera, the former leader of Milan, and her child Miranda. While living on a deserted island, Prospera conjures a shipwreck to bring her usurpers to justice. The Tempest deals with the timeless themes of power, love, and betrayal.

The relaxed performance is a new casual presentation format that features plot information at the start of the show, reduced sound levels, a half-capacity audience, and more.

Tickets and further details can be found here.
