Are you a podcaster looking to take your journey to the next level? Or maybe you’re a content creator wanting to try out a new form of content? TELUS STORYHIVE is officially launching its first-ever Video Podcast program, and they want you to apply.

The STORYHIVE Video Podcast program is a dedicated platform for aspiring podcasters to share important conversations and community stories. Apply for the chance to receive $12,000 in production funding, along with customized online training sessions, a community of support, and distribution to an audience of over one million viewers on TELUS Optik TV and STORYHIVE’s YouTube channel.

STORYHIVE is looking for original, compelling, local stories and voices from your community, in a blend of solo or interview-style audio clips with video elements. The series emphasizes the motto Your Mic, Your Platform: whether you’re picking up a microphone for the first time, or looking to gain support to expand your podcast presence, this program is for you.

“It’s an exciting time at TELUS STORYHIVE. We are proud to be launching a brand new Video Podcast program,” says Georgina Chaplin, STORYHIVE Lower Mainland territory manager, in a release.

Video podcasts are an engaging medium that not only offer space for sharing local stories, but can also facilitate meaningful dialogue, foster deeper conversations, and bring more nuance to the subject matter. And the best part? No experience is necessary to apply.

The team is also encouraging STORYHIVE alumni to apply. If you’re a member of the ever-growing STORYHIVE community, don’t let that deter you from applying—they want to hear more of your stories, too.

Applications for the Video Podcast program are open now until January 31, 2024. New and emerging content creators, as well as past recipients, are encouraged to get their applications in to secure their chance at joining this amazing community.

Since 2013, TELUS STORYHIVE has supported and championed new and emerging content creators in B.C. and Alberta through innovative programs focused on uplifting diverse voices. There are programs for all types of content creators, from filmmakers and digital content creators, to video podcasters and community live-streamers. TELUS STORYHIVE is focused on giving underrepresented communities an opportunity to share their stories on the Canadian Broadcasting System.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, STORYHIVE’s decade-long impact spans over $59 million in production funding provided to content creators, and over 117,000 hours of training and mentorship offered. The program’s local impact is significant, with over 1,920 hours of Canadian content created in support of more than 270 communities across B.C. and Alberta.
