To celebrate this year’s National Seniors Day, The Polygon Gallery is hosting a special edition of its daytime art program Meet Me at The Gallery on October 2 from 10 am to 12 pm.

This month’s Meet Me at The Gallery will offer two activities for guests. To start the morning, attendees will explore a selection of interesting photos that have been locked away in the gallery’s vault. These photos have been carefully selected to be a part of The Polygon Gallery’s fall exhibition, Tales from the Crypt. This sneak peek will include a discussion with one of the exhibition’s curators, Serena Steel, who will share some details about the images on view and explain why they are significant.

Immediately afterwards, a collage party inspired by Tales from the Crypt will kick off, making new images out of old. Guests are invited to bring some of their own photos to work with, or use magazines that will be provided. This is always a crowd favourite, with the materials provided often sparking fond memories and stories to be shared around each table. Participation in the activity is optional, but everyone is encouraged to stay and join in the conversation.

With monthly get-togethers inspired by the gallery’s current exhibitions, Meet Me at The Gallery is a daytime art program dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors and adults in the local community. Visitors are invited to drop-in on the first Wednesday of every month at 10 am to make new connections with art, and each other. A different activity will greet visitors every month, with social time to follow.

For this special edition of Meet Me at The Gallery, a few extra surprises will be awaiting guests onsite—and as always, coffee is on the house.

Meet Me at The Gallery is sponsored by Vancouver’s North Shore Tourism Association and PARC Retirement Living. Admission is by donation, or free for gallery members.

Though walk-ins are welcome on the day of the event, advance registration is helpful. Folks planning on attending can register and learn more about Meet Me at The Gallery through The Polygon Gallery.
