Vancouver International Jazz Festival announces The Revue Stage, new programming on Granville Island
New venue will host the Innovation Series: five nights of improvisational and experimental music

Coastal Jazz & Blues Society is pleased to add a new venue to Granville Island Jazz as part of the 2023 Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
The Revue Stage, located at 1601 Johnston Street, will host the festival’s Innovation Series, presenting five nights of improvisational musicians and electrifying explorations of experimental jazz.
Programming at The Revue Stage includes performances at 9 pm nightly from June 29 to July 2. Tickets are $25 plus fees. Weekend performances are followed by an 11:30 pm late show with tickets priced at $20 plus fees.
The Revue Stage performances include:
Zoh Amba & Chris Corsano with Lisa Cay Miller; June 28, 9 pm. NYC-based composer/saxophonist/flutist, Amba is one of the brightest new stars in avant-jazz.
Farida Amadou with White People Killed Them; June 29, 9 pm. Presented in association with Vancouver New Music.
Duda / Carter / Wójciński / van der Schyff; June 30, 9 pm. Polish pianist Joanna Duda is joined by bassist Ksawery Wójciński, trumpeter JP Carter, and drummer Dylan van der Schyff.
Viviane Houle's Unsung Songs; June 30, 11:30 pm. The show starring one of Canada’s most dynamic vocal improvisers, along with an ensemble, features Jo Hirabayashi’s projected, real-time manipulations of Houle’s graphics.
James Brandon Lewis; July 1, 9 pm. Expect a dreamlike mosaic of gospel, folk-blues, and catcalling brass bands.
NOW with Farida Amadou; July 1, 11:30 pm. The bassist is joined by a cellist Peggy Lee, pianist Lisa Cay Miller, drummer Mili Hong, and saxophonist Ida Toninato. Presented in association with NOW Society.
Caroline Davis’ Alula ft. Chris Tordini & Kate Gentile; July 2, 9 pm.
Davis / Lee / Babin / van der Schyff; July 2, 11:30 pm - Saxophonist/vocalist Carolyn Davis joins cellist Peggy Lee, bassist Tommy Babin, and drummer Dylan van der Schyff.
