It’s baack: Upintheair Theatre's cosmic-themed performance series, The Array, returns for its third installment.

Three highly original new works will be staged by Art Action Earwig, Upintheair Theatre, and Wake of Vultures at the performance art space What Lab (1814 Pandora Street) from December 1 to 3 at 7:30 pm.

Collectively, the artist groups were commissioned to create short works sparked from the theme of Beyond the Knowledge of Humankind, referencing not only the speculative fiction canon of space travel, but also decades of scientific research. The team drew inspiration from NASA’s Voyager mission and the 45-year journey of its spacecraft, which continues to receive commands and send data back to Earth.

Voyager has now travelled farther than any human-built object into space―beyond the gravitational edge of the solar system to explore interstellar space. In doing so, it has surpassed any conceivable human experience.

The Array will showcase performances that investigate the outer edges of space exploration and the enigmatic notions of humankind’s quest to understand more about deep space and our own species.
