As businesses pivot increasingly to digital experiences, there is a growing demand for UX—or user experience—designers.
Emily Carr University’s Continuing Studies is offering a full-time intensive program that focuses on equipping students with the fundamentals of UX design for digital products and services.
The next intake for the eight-month course is in April 2022, with an early deadline of November 15.
In the course, students develop theoretical, technical, and applied skills in UX design while gaining hands-on experience in real-world case studies, app design and prototyping, digital interface design, and basic coding and programming for the web
Students will also build a professional portfolio and complete the program with a range of in-demand, industry-ready skills that today’s employers are looking for.
Graduates will join a thriving community of ECU alumni with access to a robust professional network and mentoring opportunities.
Applicants don’t require previous experience or knowledge of design, coding, or UX. However, basic knowledge of Adobe CC software and tools (including Photoshop and Illustrator) is required.
In all, the UX intensive program offers four hours of in-class time five days a week, for a total of 32 weeks. Intakes happen in September and April.
Note that the final deadline for the next UX program is January 15—but the November 15 early deadline is recommended for students who intend to apply for funding; depending on the funding agency, applications may take several weeks to process and approve. It’s also recommended for international students, whose applications for study permits may take up to 12 months to process.
