The Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs opens its 2024-25 season this fall with Fauré & Bernstein, a reflective and healing evening of choral music, on October 18 at 7:30 pm.

Audiences can experience Fauré’s hauntingly beautiful Requiem in D Minor, Op. 48 and Bernstein’s enchanting Chichester Psalms in intimate chamber arrangements amid the stunning architecture and acoustics of St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church. As music director Leslie Dala conducts the performers, listeners might expect these reflective pieces of music to offer feelings of transcendence and rest.

The Vancouver Bach Choir and Vancouver Bach Chamber Players are joined by two soloists—soprano Sydney Trotter and baritone Obi Ifediora—for Requiem, complimented by organ instrumentals. A treble-soprano soloist, Hongchi Chen from the Vancouver Bach Children’s Choirs accompanies the performers in Chichester Psalms, along with organ, percussion, and harp players.
