The Vancouver Bach Choir presents its 2024 performance of Handel’s Messiah at the Orpheum on December 14 at 7:30 pm, featuring members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.
Featuring a quartet of dazzling soloists—soprano Caitlin Wood, alto Nicholas Burns, tenor Spencer Britten, and bass Jonathon Adams—George Frederick Handel’s oratorio Messiah, will delight traditional fans while being accessible and exciting for new concert attendees.
Long before Mariah Carey became the Queen of Christmas with her hit “All I Want for Christmas”, Handel’s Messiah was synonymous with the festive season. Even though Messiah was first performed for Easter in 1742, it would be just as hard to find someone who hasn’t heard the Hallelujah chorus as to find someone who doesn’t recognize those little ringing glockenspiel notes at the top of Carey’s single.
