The Vancouver Cantata Singers welcome audiences to REFUGE, the first concert of the group’s 2023-24 season OASIS: Solace in Song, on November 4 at 7:30 pm at Pacific Spirit United Church.

A week before Remembrance Day, REFUGE honours those who fought for peace while exploring themes of comfort and shelter from distress.

Highlights of the program include William Byrd’s Infelix ego, marking the 400th-year anniversary of his death, and Reena Esmail’s When the Violin. The choir will be joined by Russell Wallace in performing his arrangement of Prayer, along with the premiere of a new commission by the Vancouver Cantata Singers, an arrangement of Forgotten Warriors.

OASIS: Solace in Song features the choral ensemble’s historic 20th Christmas Reprise, and a special collaboration with the Allegra Chamber Orchestra to perform Amy Beach’s Grand Mass in Eb Major.

Tickets to the concert and subscriptions for this season are available here.
