Vancouver Cantata Singers pay tribute to songbirds and other animals.

The Vancouver Cantata Singers are kicking off 2023 with Songbird, February 25 at 7:30 pm at the ANNEX.

Continuing the theme of song, its power of expression and window to the soul, Songbird is an evening of music inspired by the imagery of birds and their song: Love, loss, singing and subsequent silence as night falls over the passing of time.

Featuring Brahms’ Fünf Gesänge Op. 104 and a new commissioned arrangement of Fleetwood Mac’s Songbird by Sam Dabrusin, the Vancouver Cantata Singers invite you to join as they celebrate birds and other animals amidst the forest trees and dreams of Spring.

The choir is also pleased to premiere a new piece by 2022 Choral Canada Competition for Choral Writing winner Nicholas Ryan Kelly. Titled Zoo Nocturnes, it was commissioned in conjunction with Chronos Vocal Ensemble in Edmonton.
