Join the Vancouver Chamber Choir for an explosive start to its 54th season with Figure humaine on September 27 at 7:30 pm at Pacific Spirit United Church.

Crafted around the idea of what it means to be human, listeners will experience moments of fear and beauty as they’re guided on a journey from desperation to triumph—and that’s just in the title piece, Francis Poulenc’s Figure humaine. This massive, rarely performed work is not only an emotional journey for audiences, but an incredibly physically demanding workout for all 24 singers.

The concert also features Johannes Brahms’ Fünf Gesänge, Op. 104; a brand-new work by UBC music student Joanne S. Na; and an introduction to the Vancouver Chamber Choir’s new composer-in-residence, laura hawley, with two of her compositions.

A pre-concert talk with Artistic Director Kari Turunen takes place at 7 pm.

Tickets and more details are available through the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
