Each winter, the Vancouver Chamber Choir invites young conductors to participate in its annual Conductors’ Symposium, taking place this year from February 9 to 15. Conductors Siew Woon Choy from Singapore, Brian Dungan from Ireland, Kai Leung from Canada, Klaudia Zając from Belgium, and former choir member Michael Stahl from Germany will participate in an intensive week of masterclasses and music making with Kari Turunen and the choir.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this year’s theme is music about romance—and music by Romantic composers—culminating in Isn’t it Romantic? on February 15. The concert features music by local composers Stephen Chatman and Ramona Luengen, American sensation Jake Runestad (watch the Vancouver Chamber Choir perform his work “Let My Love Be Heard” below), composer-in-residence laura hawley, and many more.
Experience Isn’t it Romantic? at Pacific Spirit United Church on February 15 at 7:30 pm.
More information is at the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
