The Vancouver Chamber Choir presents Nightingales, a co-production with musica intima, on November 25 at 7:30 pm at the St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church.

Vancouver’s two fully professional vocal groups meet to perform the magnificent work The Nightingale by Latvian composer Uģis Prauliņš. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale of the Emperor and the Nightingale, this work is both a large-scale choral piece and a virtuosic recorder concerto.

The choir welcomes Vincent Lauzer as its recorder soloist for this concert, and solo sets performed by musica intima and the Vancouver Chamber Choir round out the evening.

The Vancouver Chamber Choir is set to perform the Canadian premiere of Tawnie Olson’s Beloved of the Sky. In turn, musica intima has three musical offerings in store for audiences: Sherryl Sewepagaham’s Okâwîmâw Askiy, Leslie Uyeda’s Small Elegy, and Malika Tirolien’s Oliassa.

Tickets to the concert, plus information on special prices and ticket subscriptions, can be found here.
