Taj Mahal headlines as Vancouver Folk Music Festival readies to return live to Jericho Beach Park July 15 to 17
The huge outdoor event is back to its outdoor site after two years
THE VANCOUVER FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL has announced blues king Taj Mahal as one of its headline acts as it prepares to return to Jericho Beach Park for the first time in two long pandemic years.
The wildly popular outdoor music festival will be back in full form from July 15 to 17.
The septuagenarian Taj Mahal is a giant in the Blues Hall of Fame, with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association. The multi-instrumentalist famously plays the guitar, piano, banjo, harmonica, and more, often incorporating elements of world music into his work.
Ticket information is available here. The fest has moved to a supply-based tiered structure that’s explained here.
Government-issued proof of full vaccination is required for the 2022 Vancouver Folk Music Festival in accordance with BC Public Health Orders.
Last year the fest moved online with its 2021 Festival At Home programming. In 2020, it was cancelled along with all large-scale gatherings, organizers unable to book touring acts.
Founded in 1978, the festival was first held in Stanley Park before relocating to Jericho Beach Park in its second year.
