Classic arias are in the air, as Vancouver Opera hosts two pop-up performances, August 24

Vancouver Opera presents pop-up performances in Harbour Green Park at noon and outside West Van’s Silk Purse Arts Centre at 3 pm on August 24.
FULL OPERA productions at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre may feel like a world away right now, but at least arias are in the air at two pop-up performances on Tuesday.
The Vancouver Opera is presenting mezzo Simran Claire, tenor Sergio Augusto, and soprano Madison Craig with pianist Tina Chang at Harbour Green Park and the Silk Purse Arts Centre.
The first concert, at noon at Coal Harbour’s waterfront Harbour Green Park (in front of Liz Magor’s Lightshed sculpture by the Seawall), features a classical program at noon. The second, over at West Vancouver’s Silk Purse Arts Centre, copresented with the West Vancouver Arts Council and Rising Stars Series, has more “exciting and upbeat” repertoire.
It's a chance to hear the next generation of opera talent--including Punjabi-Canadian Claire, a UBC music grad who's performed as a young artist at the famed Glimmmerglass Festival.
