Vancouver Short Film Festival is back in theatres for their 13th anniversary. This year’s films will screen in person at the VIFF Centre from June 2 to 4, and will also be available for viewing online from June 2 to 11.
The 2023 festival will feature 57 flicks across six programs—one of which is the anticipated “After Dark Double Block” at 8:30 pm on June 3, a series of 13 dark, spooky, and out-of-this-world short fiction films.
Themed “Rising Stars, Revolutionary Stories”, the festival’s lineup presents bold storytelling and daring experimentation from some of Canada’s most talented filmmakers. The event emphasizes local artists with 45 works from B.C.-based filmmakers, while also giving a platform to up-and-coming talent with 14 student films.
Additionally, four filmmaker-exclusive events will take place at the ANNEX. These include networking sessions, industry roundtables, and an awards presentation with over $30,000 in cash and prizes to be won.
