Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents the mega-talented James Ehnes playing BOTH violin and viola for 8 pm concerts at the Orpheum on May 12 and 13, and a 7 pm concert at Surrey’s Bell Performing Arts Centre on May 14.

Ehnes returns to the VSO to play Korngold’s Violin Concerto – for which he and the VSO won a GRAMMY for their recording. Plus Ehnes will play Bartók’s beloved Viola Concerto. Under the baton of guest conductor Katharina Wincor, the VSO will play one of the most famous waltzes ever written, Strauss’s The Blue Danube, and the captivating Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Liszt.

The shows on May 12 and 13 are part of the VSO’s Newmont Masterworks Gold series, and May 14’s performance is presented in the Surrey Nights series, endowed by Werner and Helga Höing.

The May 12 concert is dedicated in memory of Ronald L. Cliff, a generous audience member and contributor who served the VSO for 67 years as board member, treasurer, and chair. Cliff’s leadership, passion, and commitment earned him honorary life president status at the VSO.

Tickets to see Ehnes are available here.
