Josefowicz Plays Stravinsky at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, November 29 to December 1
Award-winning violinist to enchant audiences with Stravinsky’s stunning Violin Concerto and two Prokofiev symphonies
At the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra this fall, Josefowicz Plays Stravinsky takes place at the Orpheum on November 29 and 30 as part of the Assante Vancouver Centre Masterworks Diamond Series, and at the Bell Performing Arts Centre on December 1 as part of the Surrey Nights Series endowed by Werner and Helga Höing.
In this concert led by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s music director Otto Tausk, Ontario-born violin soloist Leila Josefowicz will enchant audiences with Stravinsky’s stunning Violin Concerto. The program for the evening also includes Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, “Classical”, one of the most performed works of the 20th century that is shining with verve and vivacity; as well as a journey through Prokofiev’s final and life-affirming Symphony No. 7.
Josefowicz was artist-in-residence at the Iceland Symphony Orchestra for the 2023-24 season. Her accolades include the Avery Fisher Prize and prestigious MacArthur Fellowship.
