The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Louis Armstrong & Friends at the Orpheum on November 17 and 18 at 8 pm, as part of the London Drugs VSO Pops series.

Armstrong collaborated with virtually every major musical star of the 20th century, including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, and a vast array of others.

With the endearing spirit and one-of-a-kind charisma of Armstrong himself, trumpeter-vocalist Byron Stripling and vocalist Carmen Bradford perform famous classics from the Great American Songbook of jazz tunes. The pair’s recreation of the jazz legend’s magical moments is led by conductor Sean O’Loughlin.

Guests can arrive early for a VSO Prelude Concert and get two shows for the price of one. The VSO School of Music’s Big Band takes to the stage at 7:15 pm at the Westcoast Energy Hall, led by acclaimed composer, educator, and trumpeter Daniel Hersog.

Tickets and details are at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
