The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Ravel: La Valse & Boléro in 7 pm performances on December 1 at the Orpheum as part of the Musically Speaking series, and December 3 at the Bell Performing Arts Centre as part of the Surrey Nights series. Surrey Nights is endowed by Werner and Helga Höing.

Be mesmerized by the hypnotic rhythms of Ravel’s most famous composition, Boléro, and his whirling waltz La Valse. Grammy-Award winning American conductor JoAnn Falletta leads the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in the program of exquisite French classics, including Florent Schmitt’s Musique sur l’eau and La Tragédie de Salomé, Symphonic Poem, Op. 50, and Albert Roussel’s Bacchus and Ariane, Op. 43, Suite No. 2.

A special guest appearance will be made by celebrated local mezzo-soprano Susan Platts. As part of the VSO School of Music International Master Teacher Program, Platts is hosting an exclusive masterclass in Pyatt Hall on November 30 at 5 pm.
