Vetta Chamber Music presents Wartime Masterpieces, their fifth concert of the season, from April 28 to May 1, with matinee and evening performances across four venues.

Concerts at 2 pm will be held on April 28 at West Point Grey United Church, and April 30 at Pyatt Hall; and 7:30 pm concerts are on April 29 at West Vancouver United Church, and May 1 at ArtSpring on Salt Spring Island.

Audiences are invited to join violinist Joan Blackman, pianist Jane Hayes, and VSO principal cellist Henry Shapard for a journey back to the first half of the 20th century.

The Wartime Masterpieces program will feature music from three composers who were deeply affected by world wars. Britten’s Suite No. 1 for Solo Cello, Opus 72 will open the concert, followed by Shostakovich’s Trio No. 2 in E minor, Opus 67. The evening will conclude with Ravel’s Piano Trio.
