Produced by Kokoro Dance, the fest’s ticketed live shows include Kokoro Dance’s own Wabi-Sabi , a duet about transience by Barbara Bourget, and Jay Hirabayashi, set to live music, March 4 and 5 at the Vancouver Playhouse. That’s followed by Vancouver-based Company 605’s Brimming, in a compelling hybrid of live-feed cameras and live in-situ performance featuring soloist Josh Martin, March 18 and 19 at the Annex. And in a copresentation with the Cultch, VIDF wraps up the ticketed shows with Haitian-Montrealer Rhodnie Désir’s BOW’T TRAIL RETROSPEK, a trip into history, driven by African cultures and rhythms of peoples deported to the Americas, featuring live music and video, at The Cultch Historic Theatre March 23 to 26 (see the trailer below).
In addition, dance fans can head down to KW Studios for free or by-donation in-person performances.
