Vancouver International Film Festival presents part one of their anticipated series Studio Ghibli Forever!, featuring screenings of Hayao Miyazaki’s legendary animated films, from March 13 to 25 at the VIFF Centre.

The all-ages screening series will feature the first 12 films in the Studio Ghibli catalogue, including beloved classics My Neighbor Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies, Castle in the Sky, and more.

Myazaki’s first film as a writer-director, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, will kick off the event. Released in 1984, the movie’s plotline follows a princess who leads her kingdom in a battle against giant insects.

Each film in the series will screen twice—a matinee in an English language dub, and an evening screening with the film’s original Japanese audio and English subtitles.

Part two of the series will begin in April, featuring Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and a collection of other Studio Ghibli favourites.

Tickets for the film screenings can be purchased at VIFF. Reduced pricing for youth 12 and under.
