West Vancouver Memorial Library has just announced the appointment of Vancouver-based singer-songwriter, musician, and producer Sam Lynch as its inaugural Sound Artist in Residence. This pioneering residency continues the library’s decade-plus tradition of fostering a vibrant creative hub centred around music thanks to a generous bequest from the estate of Robert Leslie Welsh through the Library Foundation.

Winner of the 2022 Western Canadian Music Award for Songwriter of the Year, Lynch is celebrated for her exploration of profound themes such as existence, isolation, and introspection. While at the West Vancouver Memorial Library, she will divide her time between advancing her own musical projects and providing mentorship to the community.

Lynch will have access to the library’s state-of-the-art Recording Studio, which is equipped with industry-standard gear. She is set to host various programs and workshops there at no cost during her residency.
