One of the world’s most celebrated pianists is set to make her return to the Vancouver Recital Society.

The VRS has announced that Yuja Wang, whose last concert here sold out, will hit the Orpheum Stage on March 30 at 7:30 pm.

Wang made her VRS debut in 2008 in the early stages of her career and has returned twice in the intervening years.

She consistently dazzles audiences with her electrifying stage presence, jaw-dropping virtuosity, and keen musical insight. Critics worldwide have called her “charismatic”, “breathtaking”, and “brilliant”.

The piano star is celebrated for her charismatic artistry, emotional honesty, and captivating stage presence. She has performed with the world’s most venerated conductors, musicians, and ensembles, and is renowned not only for her virtuosity, but her spontaneous and lively performances.

Her skill and charisma were recently demonstrated in her performance of Shostakovich’s famously demanding Piano Concerto No.2 at Carnegie Hall’s Opening Night Gala in October 2021, following that storied venue’s historic 572 days of closure.

The program for the Vancouver show is yet to be announced. In the meantime, you can see her dazzling interpretation of Rachmaninoff in the video below, and find tickets and more information at the VRS site here.
