5X Festival celebrates South Asian youth culture with art installations, pop-up dances, live music, and more,
The multi-day fest in Vancouver and Surrey culminates in a pandemic-friendly Block Party at the Beaumont Studios
5X Festival is here: the country’s most exciting, ambitious, and forward-thinking event elevating South Asian youth culture through music, dance, visual art, fashion, and more is now taking place in Vancouver and Surrey.
5X Fest invites people to #ComeTogether as one family—to connect, celebrate, and create magic with 60 performers and 30 artists, all in pandemic-friendly settings.
The marquee annual event is the 5X Fest Blockparty, September 17 to 19 at the Beaumont Studios in Vancouver. Ordinarily averaging 10,000 attendees, the party is back IRL this year, reimagined for the times—micro-sized with a 300-person capacity.
The 5X Fest Blockparty 2021 spotlights more than 25 artists, designers, and creators from various genres who will #ComeTogether in a unique pop-up venue and art gallery. The Beaumont Studios’ indoor/outdoor location is perfect for rain or shine.
Among the Blockparty guest artists are: Cinnamon Sandhu, Karishma Deo, and Aanam on September 17; the PropheC, REVÈ, Jeymon, BAINS., Saint Soldier, Preet Purba, and LIL INDIA on September 18; and Fateh, Intense, Ikky, Raman Bains, Daksh Kubba, Naman Verma, and Anjali, on September 19.
Their #ComeTogether art lounge will feature six bespoke collaborations that were in under production through the summer. This pandemic-era initiative allowed 5X to organize and document eight collaboration sessions pairing local artists who had never worked together before. The art created from these collabs will be showcased as art installations at the festival.
Doors for the 5X Blockparty 2021 open at 5 pm on Friday with the show running from 6 to 10 pm; 3 pm Saturday with the show running from 4 to 10pm; and 3 pm on Sunday with the show running from 4 to 10 pm. As space is limited, visit Eventbrite to get your tickets today.
That’s not all. The 5X Fest Afterparty, the festival’s signature club night, happens September 18 at the iconic Celebrities nightclub. Featuring the city’s best talent, the highly anticipated event is made for pandemic-times with a 250-person limit.
The 5X Fest will be adhering to all COVID-19 public-health recommendations for the safety of all involved.
