Audain Art Museum’s TNT with Erin Shirreff, tonight
The B.C.-born artist’s practice strikes a balance between photography, sculpture, and video
Episode 7 of the Audain Art Museum’s Tuesday Night Talks (TNT) ) takes place February 16 at 8 pm via Zoom
Hosted by Audain Art Museum director and chief curator Curtis Collins, the seventh episode of the popular Tuesday Night Talks (TNT) series features Erin Shirreff. The Kelowna native received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria then earned a Master of Fine Arts at the Yale University School of Art in Connecticut.
Now based in Montreal, Shirreff will discuss her 2019 work in the AAM’s holding entitled Fig.14. It’s an archival pigment print that illustrates how the artist’s practice strikes a curious balance between photography, sculpture, and video, as she explores how viewers negotiate three-dimensional forms in an era dominated by the constant exchange of static and moving digital images.
Over the past decade, Shirreff’s work has been presented at prominent venues throughout North America and Europe, including solo exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Kunsthalle Basel in Switzerland, and Vancouver’s Contemporary Art Gallery. Her work is also featured in public collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Toronto’s Art Gallery of Ontario, and Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
TNT offers a rare chance for people to enter the museum and the artist’s studio or home, all virtually, while learning about key works in the AAM’s permanent collection.
The event takes place via Zoom. Participants are invited to submit questions in advance for Shirreff to consider, considered an essential part of TNT’s interactive format. To register, visit [AAM][1]. [1]: https://audainartmuseum.com/tnt/
