Led by visionary B.C.–based arranger and music director Réjean Marois, the 11-member Marois Vocal Project will deliver an exhilarating instrumental jazz repertoire, with voices skillfully reproducing the sounds of saxophones and brass instruments, at BlueShore at CapU on June 28 at 7:30 pm.

Featuring compositions by legends such as Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, and Count Basie, Marois Vocal Project’s specialty is the unique vocal technique known as “vocalese”, for which jazz singers seamlessly adapt instruments to both scatting and singing.

For this special performance presented by North Shore Jazz in partnership with Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Marois Vocal Project will pay tribute to Dave Brubeck with iconic songs like “Take Five”.

Marois Vocal Project includes vocalists Siri Olesen, Alisia Lyne, Karen White, Tess Meckling, Carman J. Price, Andy Rice, Steve Maddock, and Matt Shipley along with pianist James Dekker, bassist Stephen Edwards, and drummer Jamison Ko.

Tickets are available at capilanou.ca/centre.
