Lucinda Williams tickets now on sale, as singer-songwriter is set to hit TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival July 2
Fest also unveils programming for Jazz at Pyatt Hall and Performance Works series for summer event
Coastal Jazz & Blues Society has just released tickets for Lucinda Williams, who performs here on July 2 as part of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
The singer-songwriter, best known for her rock-blues-country-fusing Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, will appear at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Her latest studio album, released in 2020, is the gritty-blues-inflected Good Souls Better Angels. General tickets are on sale today (April 28) at www.coastaljazz.ca.
The fest also announced the lineup for its popular Jazz at Pyatt Hall series, where the focus is straight-ahead, bebop, and modern styles. All shows feature an early 7:30 pm start, followed by a 9:30 pm late show. On the roster: Brad Turner Quintet featuring Mike Murley Friday, June 24; sax maestro Immanuel Wilkins Monday, June 27; celebrated local ensemble Peggy Lee Band Thursday, June 30; and Cory Weeds Little Big Band with Special Guest Carl Allen Saturday, July 2.
Meanwhile the program at its Performance Works Series, an eclectic mix at the Granville Island venue, includes the following: Adria Kain and Janette King sharing stories of resilience and self-actualization, June 24; Inuit throat-singing duo PIQSIQ alongisde KEE AVIL’s guitar, voice and electronics performance on June 25; the breezy Julian Lage Trio, featuring Scott Colley and Dave King, performs, June 26; Youn Sun Nah, June 27; vibraphonist Joel Ross Good Vibes, June 29; Samara Joy with Pasquale Grasso Trio, June 30; Sam Tudor + Kandle, featuring Kendel Carson and Debra-Jean Creelman, on Canada Day; The Blue and Gold and Great Aunt Ida, July 2; and West African sensations Les Filles De Illighadad, July 3.
The fest previously announced Cécile McLorin Salvant and GoGo Penguin would be performing.
