Acclaimed cinematographer Dariusz Wolski discusses House of Gucci, January 7 via VIFF Connect
The Ridley Scott collaborator, who’ll speak with local lenser Greg Middleton, has a long, stylistically impressive resume
VIFF Connect streams House of Gucci : In Conversation with Dariusz Wolski, Cinematographer on January 7 at 11 am
THE MARTIAN, Prometheus, Alice in Wonderland, Dark City: Polish cinematographer Dariusz Wolski has put an indelible visual signature on some truly epic films, not to mention on music videos for the likes of David Bowie and Eminem.
But perhaps no other project has been quite like the kitsch-tastic House of Gucci, the new Ridley Scott-helmed ode to fashion excess and dynastic downfall starring Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, and Al Pacino.
Wolski shot it during the pandemic, right on the heels of the dramatically different The Last Duel, streaming now and also directed by Scott.
One of Vancouver’s own top cinematography talents, Greg Middleton (who’s lensed, amid other projects, Game of Thrones) will moderate the online conversation with Wolski this week. Be on hand to hear about everything from the stunning locations—lakeside villas, Milan streets, glam ski resorts—to Wolski’s unique blend of glitz-meets-faded-period-hues to working with the all-star cast. Preregistration is required.
