One of the world’s most revered pianists is set to return to Canada for his fourth Vancouver Recital Society appearance.
Evgeny Kissin, an artist celebrated for his musicality, depth of expression, and extraordinary virtuosity, will play a concert here on April 28 at the Orpheum.
The Prague-based artist will perform a wide range of repertoire: J.S. Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565 (arr. Tausig); Mozart’s Adagio in B minor, K. 540; Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 31 in A-flat major, Op. 110; and a selection of Chopin’s Mazurkas, as well as that composer’s Andante spianato and Grande polonaise brillante, Op. 22.
Kissin has earned the kind of veneration and admiration reserved for only the most gifted pianists. A not-to-be missed performance!
First rising to fame as a child prodigy, Kissin was born and studied in Russia, but he left many years ago and has taken both British and Israeli citizenship.
Kissin has performed with nearly all the leading orchestras of the world.
