Friends of Chamber Music are excited to host the Goldmund Quartet for its first concert in Vancouver on January 30 at 7:30 pm at the Vancouver Playhouse.

This Munich-based ensemble is included amongst the leading string quartets of the new generation worldwide. Praised for its “exquisite playing” and “multi-layered homogeneity” (Süddeutsche Zeitung), the Goldmund Quartet expertly interprets both classical and modern works.

The group released a new EP titled Prisma in 2023, featuring contemporary works by Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, and Uno Helmersson.

The upcoming performance opens with Haydn’s powerful and inventive String Quartet in D Minor, Opus 76, No. 2, “Quinten”, often considered his most remarkable composition. Borodin’s beloved String Quartet No. 2 in D Major follows. Romantic in nature, this is one of his final works. The concert closes with Beethoven’s ever-popular String Quartet No. 7, Opus 59, No. 1, “Razumovsky”.
