Vancouver violin virtuoso Cameron Wilson's BBC Trio plays jazz in concert, January 15
Standards and original compositions make up the program for the Kay Meek Arts Centre’s third show in its Jazz Violin Concert series
Kay Meek Arts Centre’s Jazz Violin Concert series presents Cameron Wilson and the BBC Trio at KMAC’s McEwen Theatre on January 15 from 3 to 5 pm
VIOLIN VIRTUOSO CAMERON WILSON has made a name for himself as one of Canada’s most versatile violinists, as at ease playing classical music as he is mariachi. He also excels at jazz, as local audiences can see and hear for themselves when Cameron performs at the third show of Kay Meek Arts Centre’s Jazz Violin Concert series.
Wilson will join his BBC Trio bandmates guitarist Bill Coon and bassist Brent Gubbels for a program of standards and original compositions by both himself and Coon.
When he’s not jazzing things up, Wilson—who’s also an arranger and composer and a former long-time member of Vancouver Symphony Orchestra—plays with such varied groups as Van Django, The Wahs, Hard Rubber Orchestra, Mariachi del Soul, and the Marc Atkinson Quartet. Coon is a Juno-nominated artist who was named Guitarist of the Year at the 2009 National Jazz Awards.
Tickets and more details are at KMAC.
