Double Happiness, François Houle, and more as Music on Main's Modulus Festival announces full lineup
Taking place November 3 to 8, event features several premieres
MUSIC ON MAIN has announced its full 2022 Modulus Festival live lineup,
Among the highlights is Nancy Tam and Robyn Jacob's "Double Happiness: Detour This Way," a collection of personal stories of migration from the Chinese diaspora, showing November 3 to 12 at the cozy Left of Main studio; and Ayelet Gottlieb's poetic 13 Lunar Mediations: Summoning the Witches, which explores our relationship with the moon, November 5 at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre. The latter is joined by an array of artists, including DB Boyko conducting the Choeur Luna, Turkish-violin player Eylem Basaldi, and guitarist Aram Bajakian.
Coastal Jazz will also be curating a series of late-night concerts called IronFest III at the Ironworks, featuring improv with Modulus musicians. François Houle’s Canadian premiere of The Secret Lives of Colour draws on the historical connections between the moods and spirits of colour, at the Annex on November 4.
Elsewhere, Dory Hayley sings Morton Feldman’s minimalist masterpiece “Three Voices” at the Annex on November 6. The next night, Standing Wave Ensemble plays a world premiere by Bekah Simms and George Crumb “Dream Sequence” at the same venue. And don’t miss No Hay Banda on November 8, as it performs Steven Kazuo Takasugi’s carnivalesque, chaotic Side Show at the Roundhouse.
