The Herald Scotland calls Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story “a thing of raw, unmissable beauty”. Tickets are now on sale for its return Vancouver run at SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (49 West Hastings Street) from December 1 to 4.

The klezmer-folk music-theatre hybrid starring genre-bending sensation Ben Caplan is inspired by the true stories of two Jewish Romanian refugees coming to Canada in 1908. It’s a humorously dark folktale woven together with a high-energy concert about how to love after being broken by the horrors of war. It’s about how to love after being broken by the horrors of war. It’s about refugees who get out before it’s too late, and those who get out after it’s too late. And it’s about looking into the eyes of God.

Having premiered to enormous success in Halifax in 2017, Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story has earned numerous accolades and awards around the world, touring to 30 cities in six countries.

Early Bird tickets are on sale till October 15.

Playwright Hannah Moscovitch has won many awards, including the prestigious international Windham-Campbell Prize administered by the Beinecke Library at Yale University. Caplan pulls double duty as co-songwriter and as the play’s narrator, The Wanderer. He has released three albums to critical acclaim, including his latest: a companion piece to this production titled Old Stock. 2b theatre company artistic co-director Christian Barry is the show’s director, co-set lighting and sound designer, and co-songwriter.
