A TOTAL OF 31 British Columbians will be invested into the Order of British Columbia on March 3.

From the arts and culture community are Joe Average, Michael Bublé, Jane Coop, and Carol A. Lee.

Born Brock David Tebbutt, Joe Average has been a prolific contributor to the local international art scene since the mid 1980s, when an HIV diagnosis motivated him to focus exclusively on his art.

Jane Coop.

Coop is a concert pianist, mentor, and educator whose 40-year international career includes four Juno award nominations and the founding of the Skylark Music recording label.

Michael Bublé.

Burnaby native Bublé has sold more than 65 million records worldwide, and his music has won 13 Juno awards and four Grammy awards.

Carol A. Lee

Lee  is the chair of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, a registered charity that she co-founded in 2011. Among its many projects is the recently launched Chinatown Storytelling Centre, Canada’s first institution of its kind dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of early Chinese Canadians.

Elsewhere, Dr. Bonnie Henry is being recognized for navigating the province through the mayhem of COVID-19 and her long career as a specialist in public health and preventive medicine.

This year’s recipients as well as those from 2020 and 2021, plus three others who were unable to attend their ceremonies in previous years, will be honoured. The ceremony will take place at Government House at 6 pm and can be streamed at https://youtu.be/BWyklTLN8hA.
