Friends of Chamber Music is pleased to welcome back the Pavel Haas Quartet for their fifth concert with the organization and first with new violist Luosha Fang.

The Pavel Haas Quartet is an exhilarating ensemble whose level of playing seems on an unstoppable upward trajectory. Since forming in 2002, they have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with, winning their first Gramophone Chamber Music award in 2006 and going on to receive five more. Their most recent accolade was for a 2019 recording of the Dvorák Second Piano Quintet with Boris Giltburg, who played with them here on their last date with Friends of Chamber Music.

Recognized by the BBC Music Magazine as one of the "ten best string quartets of all time", the Pavel Haas Quartet will perform Franz Joseph Haydn’s Quartet in G major, Opus 76, No.1; Bohuslav Martinů’s Quartet No.7, “Concerto da Camera”, H.314; and Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No.15 in G major, D887.

Taking place March 13 at 3 pm at the Vancouver Playhouse, it will be a Sunday afternoon to remember.
