Vancouver Symphony Orchestra shares the gift of beautiful music this holiday season
The VSO presents a series of free festive concerts; subscription gift certificates make the holidays symphonic
Music has the power to inspire and soothe. After what’s been a difficult year, the gift of beautiful music has perhaps never been more fitting this holiday season.
As a gift to the community, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is sharing three free Christmas concerts this month. They’re available for streaming on TheConcertHall.ca, the VSO’s new virtual hub presented by Telus, offering exceptional performances in the comfort of your own home.
Do Re Me Fa Snow!, on December 12 at 10:30 am, is hosted by Gillian Hunter-Gibbs. The director of the VSO School of Music, Hunter-Gibbs is an experienced Early Childhood Music educator with a background in voice and violin who brings her love of classical music, teaching, and fun to the VSO’s Little Kids Concerts. She’ll lead this festive, interactive concert in which the Winter Fairy needs audiences’ help to make it snow
On December 19 at 2 pm, it’s a VSO Christmas Story with Christopher Gaze and special guests. Gaze is the founding artistic director of Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival. The beloved Vancouver artist hosts the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's popular Tea and Trumpets series as well as its annual traditional Christmas concerts.
Vivaldi's Four Seasons takes place on December 22 at 7:30 pm. The annual VSO tradition goes virtual this year, with concertmaster Nicholas Wright leading the cherished, timeless composition.
Gift certificates to TheConcertHall.ca are now available, making the perfect stocking stuffer for the music lover on your list. A thoughtful, unique, and zero-waste gift, a subscription provides access to VSO concerts already released this season and more than 20 performances to be released in the New Year. Choose from a 30-day or a full-year
