Rumble Theatre presents Summertide: Untrue Stories Live on June 7 and 8 at 7:30 pm at Woodland Park

RUMBLE THEATRE IS PRESENTING a new creation series called Summertide: Untrue Stories Live, which will feature three new works in a cabaret format. The event takes its name from the phrase “summer time except told-timey”, like “yuletide” in winter. Hosted by Rumble artist in residence and robot drag queen Nora Vision, it all takes place in a portable creation tent at Woodland Park.

The works will be performed by Kelsi James, Pete Kytwayhat, and Kevin Nguyen.

Kelsi James.

James is a white queer and asexual theatre creator, producer, and performer who has a degree in musical theatre performance from Sheridan and a certificate in ASL & Deaf studies (from Vancouver Community College). Having developed work through programs at the Arts Club Theatre Company, Paprika Festival, Tarragon Theatre, and the frank theatre company, James has composed for Driftwood Theatre and Theatre Rusticle and has been a creative producer for Dreamwalker Dance since 2021. Acting credits include Alice in Gertrude and Alice (United Players of Vancouver) and Helena/Quince in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Driftwood).

Kevin Nguyen.

Nguyen is a Vietnamese-Canadian artist who fell in love with acting in high school and went on to train in Studio 58’s theatre program. He has co-created and appeared in works such as Everybody, The Rocky Horror Show, and Blue Stockings, all at Studio 58; East Van Panto: Little Mermaid (Theatre Replacement); Annette is a Bimbo! (The Women’s Company); and The Bright Young Things (Folding Camera Theatre). He was a part of the 2022 Riotous Youth ensemble at Bard on the Beach and the 2022 recipient of the United Players Andrée Karas scholarship award.
