SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs’ partnership with the South African Film Festival (SAFF) has allowed it to expand and further engage both locally and nationally on a grassroots basis.

The South African Film Festival (SAFF) is a festival with a heart, presenting a collection of notable films, documentaries and shorts that entertain and inform as they explore the culture, history, and politics of South Africa. Running for more than a decade, VSAFF was the first significant festival of South African films held anywhere outside of South Africa.

All festival proceeds go to Education without Borders (EwB). The partnership stays true to the SFUW motto “Create, Engage and Inspire” with thought-provoking films and documentaries.

“SFUW’s approach has always been open, flexible and friendly. They are always willing to help by believing in our festival and for wanting it to succeed as much as we do,” the fest says. “Their collaboration has been pivotal as, after two years, SAFF was being hosted as a virtual event due to the pandemic; we are now so grateful to be able to organize an in-person opening gala with the gracious help of SFUW.”

Don’t miss SAFF’s in-person gala screening of Blind Ambition on November 3 at 6:30 pm at SFU Woodward’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts.
