The local artist cites Elliott Smith, Bon Iver among his influences
SOUND OF THE CITY is a series created in partnership by the City of Vancouver and Stir that showcases Vancouver’s diverse music scene, highlighting BIPOC and underrepresented artists and acts. Each edition features a Q&A and a Sound of the City playlist curated by the artist that features some of their favourite local musicians.
ekkstacy
EKKSTACY IS AN 18-year-old artist from Vancouver who always wanted to be an artist but who was held back because he didn’t feel he had the confidence. However, after going through drug-induced psychosis, his parents’ divorce, and alcohol abuse, he found himself writing and recording music every day. He took inspiration from film as well as artists such as Elliott Smith, the Drums, Bon Iver, and Bedroom.
Now, ekkstacy describes his sound as a fuse of indie, post punk, and synth wave.
