Sound of the City: NADUH
The five-piece femme power group talks Venus, the VPD, and Vancouver talent
SOUND OF THE CITY is a chance to discover and explore Vancouver’s incredible and diverse music scene created in partnership by the City of Vancouver and Stir.
We hear from different local artists or acts, what’s in heavy rotation on their playlist as well as what’s happening in their world amid COVID-19—in their own words.
We ask each artist or act to curate and share a Sound of the City playlist that features some of their favourite Vancouver musicians.
Sound of the City is a way to celebrate local talent, highlight BIPOC and underrepresented artists, and connect with creatives and each other. It’s time to crank the volume on the music that’s all around us, right in our own backyard.
NADUH
NADUH was sent back to Earth after a potent LSD trip where they met planet Venus and were given the task to spread some enlightenment on the home front. They are a five-piece femme power group, a spicier Spice Girls or the female Brock Hampton, if you will. They came to Earth to shatter constructs, heal ancestral trauma, and make only the dopest sounds, laced with potent messages of empowerment, embodied sexuality, and unity consciousness.
NADUH, composed of Taraneh (aka Tee Krispil), Jenny Lea (of I M U R), Rosita Alcantara (of Off Topic), Giorgi Holiday (aka Giorgi), and Larisa Marie, write, engineer, and produce all of their music—meaning they have crafted a sound that’s truly representative of their collective energy. Filling in the industry thigh gap, NADUH brings a distinctive sound, fat pussy energy (FPE), and personal empowerment to all.
The stars aligned in so-called Vancouver, where the crew bonded over music, fashion, art, and growth mentality. Recognizing the immediate need for the healing of divine feminine energy in the music industry, NADUH joined forces, making their supergroup dreams come true. The women actively meditate and commune with plant medicines like cacao, cannabis, and blue lotus, catapulting them into creative depths. Their cosmic insight transmutes into their music, helping their audience gain higher realms of consciousness while entertaining their urge to twerk.

NADUH’s Playlist
How are you feeling about life right now?
We are feeling okay, you know, existential. I mean, we live on a rock flying through a black void, so, like, we’re okay... I mean things aren’t bad. Generally we’re feeling calm but cheeky.
Like what is up? 2021 okay?! We doing this.
What did you have planned in 2020, and for this year, and how has the pandemic changed those plans?
2020 jumpstarted NADUH. We started right before the pandemic and kept working through the summer to develop. As far as plans go, we don’t make them—VENUS DOES. Expect the juice.
What, or who, do you miss most about pre-pandemic life?
Playing shows, live music, and the liberty of being able to see your loved ones.
Where are you finding solace?
In Venus, sisterhood, and song.
What song or album has been in your heavy rotation recently and why?
SiR’s “Hair Down”, because it’s a perfect song.
Can you give a shoutout to one of your favourite Vancouver musicians or artists? What about them inspires you?
Tonye Aganaba, because they are one of those people that you will never forget because of how they made you feel. We all met Tonye individually, and they have influenced and inspired us all in so many ways. Their latest project, Something Comfortable, is a perfect example of their beautiful lyrics and moving vocals. And don’t even get us started on the live performance...
If you could change one thing about Vancouver, what would it be?
The housing crisis needs addressing and middle fingers to the VPD. On the plus side, so-called "Vancouver" is charged up with talent, community, and stunning scenery. We’re very grateful to be here.
Who is your dream collaborator?
EarthGang and Rick Rubin.
