Vetta Chamber Music presents Jane Coop and Friends season finale
An exceptional program of Mozart and Franck closes a season like no other
For its final program of this season, Vetta Chamber Music has chosen two great works for piano and strings. The virtual concert features Steinway Artist Jane Coop in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 and Franck’s Quintet for Piano & Strings.
The Mozart has been said to be “the first unequivocal masterpiece of the classical style”, and Alfred Einstein called it “Mozart’s Eroica”. The Franck has been described as having a "torrid emotional power" and as “steaming and sensual”; Parisian audiences demanded it be played again and again when it was first performed.
Joining Jane Coop on piano in these masterpieces are Joan Blackman and Jason Ho on violin, Yariv Aloni on viola, Brian Yoon on cello, and Dylan Palmer on bass.
Recorded live at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC to be enjoyed at home, the virtual concert is available for viewing anytime between June 10 at 2 pm Pacific time and June 13 at midnight Pacific time. An online reception featuring a live chat with the artists takes place June 13 at 2 pm Pacific.
Single tickets are $20, and supported tickets are $5.
