Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Mozart, Brahms & Bartók at Pyatt Hall on March 6 and 9
THE VANCOUVER SYMPHONY Orchestra Chamber Players are back, performing Mozart, Brahms & Bartók at Pyatt Hall on March 6 and 9. The intimate concerts are curated by the VSO musicians themselves.
On the program are Mozart’s Divertimento in F major, K. 138—written in 1772 when the musical genius was just 15 years old—and Bartók’s 1927 String Quartet No. 3, the shortest of the composer’s six string quartets. The pieces will be performed by associate concertmaster Timothy Steeves and Carina Vincenti on violin, Jae-Won Bang on viola, and Jonathan Lo on cello.
Rounding out the concert is Brahms’s String Sextet No.1 in B-flat from 1859-1860. Bringing the work to life are violinists Manuel Lok and Ann Okagaito, violists Hung-Wei Huang and Katrina Chitty, and cellists Zoltan Rozsnyai and Christopher Chan.
The concerts often sell out in advance due to limited capacity.
