Whistler Summer Concert Series presents Walk off the Earth on July 1 at 7:30 pm at Whistler Olympic Plaza
THE WHISTLER SUMMER Concert Series is getting off to a big and bold start with feature band Walk off the Earth.
The Juno-winning Burlington, Ontario-based indie-pop band is best known for its videos of covers and original compositions. For proof of its online success, look no further than the public reception to 2023’s “My Stupid Heart”, which amassed one billion YouTube views and 200 million TikTok views. In 2012, the group earned global recognition with its cover of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used to Know”, the video of all five band members at the time playing a single guitar simultaneously going viral and garnering more than 175 million views in four months. Shortly thereafter, the group played the track on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The group’s singles “Rule The World,” “Fire In My Soul” and “I’ll Be There” have all been certified multiplatinum. In 2016, the act won a Juno award for Group of the Year. Walk off the Earth’s music has also been featured on the Catalan TV show El foraster and in the animated film Snowtime!.
The free show takes place on July 1 at 7:30 pm. Opening for Walk off the Earth is DJ Foxy Moron at 6:30 pm.
