Vancouver Civic Theatres
Vancouver Civic Theatres bridges the connection between patron and performer, providing culture enthusiasts and explorers with access to an endless array of arts, culture and entertainment productions, including concerts, dance, classical music, opera, comedy, film and Broadway shows.
Setting the stage for the performing arts at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver Playhouse, Orpheum, and Annex, Vancouver Civic Theatres is committed to developing, enhancing and promoting the city’s diverse arts scene—sharing with the community and the world the astonishing breadth and depth of the city’s creative community and cultural entrepreneurs.
Arts and culture are integral to a city’s distinct personality and flair, which is why VCT prioritizes building lasting relationships with local nonprofits and individuals, empowering a collective vision for the community at large. As part of the ongoing mission to provide access to its spaces for the community in unconventional ways, VCT is working on a variety of cultural programs.
Vancouver Civic Theatres looks to use its venues as gallery space to provide an opportunity for local visual artists and arts organizations to exhibit their work. These artists are selected through a call and jury process which occurs annually. The artists range from emerging and mid-career to more established artists. The intention is for both artists and visitors to experience and share in the work, using art as a catalyst for individual and community engagement. Exhibitions are available for viewing during show times for ticket holders, and via a seasonal Visual Arts Open House.
Keep an eye out for VC Community Programming, offering year-round activities including free outdoor movies, gallery open houses, free tours, and more. These programs are free or subsidized by VCT to ensure low barrier access to arts and culture in the city.
