Emily Carr University of Art + Design's popular Student Art Sale goes online December 1 to 7

Featuring one-of-a-kind works from photography and cards to ceramics and paintings, the event reaches across North America this year

Emily Carr University of Art + Design’s 47th annual Student Art Sale is set to take place virtually for the first time from December 1 to 7.

Featuring work by more than 100 of the school’s art, media, and design students, the 47th annual sale usually draws crowds out to the facility for its huge array of paintings, homewares, ceramics, photography, cards, jewellery, and more.

This year, though, amid social distancing measures, art fans can head to www.buymoreart.ca/ to peruse the collection, which will be open to any shopper in North America.

The sale offers a chance to get to know and own the work of one of the city’s emerging artists.

The hands-on online experience is also a learning experience for students to hone their entrepreneurial skills teach them about the ever-evolving world of e-commerce. Emily Carr University provides the platform, but you’ll be dealing directly with the student artists themselves.

Quantities are limited and many pieces are one-of-a-kind, check in early on opening day. Every item is unique and hand-crafted by students. Items are to be shipped within three days of purchase, anywhere within Canada and the U.S.—well before the holidays.

The range of work will give viewers a good overview of why Emily Carr University of Art + Design is a world leader in education and research. Founded in 1925, the school, now based out of a new cutting-edge facility on East First Avenue, encourages experimentation at the intersections of art, design, media, and technology. It has 2000 students enrolled in graduate and undergraduate programs, with thousands more taking workshops, certificate programs, and individual programs. The faculty and alumni are internationally recognized—and this is a chance to see where it all starts.
